Estefanía, a graduate lawyer from Arequipa, is our Director and therefore works to keep HOOP on the trajectory towards growth. She started working here first as a Legal Coordinator where she ensured that HOOP complied with all the relevant regulations, and now manages day to day operations and develops and supervises strategic projects. It is also her responsibility to cultivate relationships with public institutions and stakeholders.
Our Education and Volunteer Coordinator, Yves, comes to us from France. Yves graduated from Philipps-Universität Marburg with a degree in international management. He worked as a consultant before moving to Spain, where he taught French. Yves began with HOOP as lead English teacher before becoming the academic assistant, and, finally, reached his current appointment. Yves is happy to do meaningful work in Peru, and is always willing to help potential and current volunteers.
Our Communications and Development Coordinator is an Argentinean journalist that worked on transparency and social justice projects in his home country where he ran a non-profit news agency and developed nationwide anti-corruption campaigns. Lucas attended university in Buenos Aires, led the council of students, and as an AusAid scholar earned a master´s degree in public policy from the Australian National University.
Our Psychology Coordinator, Alonso, has previously worked with HIV patients and adolescents as well as having volunteered in various NGOs. He attended Universidad Católica San Pablo and has also participated in the psychology research group of the University of LaSalle. As an experienced psychologist, he works closely with the community, mainly with mothers and children, providing psychological care and counseling on parenting issues.
Marina, our Social Work Coordinator from Spain, attended Granada University where she completed her undergraduate and master’s degrees in Social Work. Before joining our team, she worked for a program of the Social Development Ministry of Peru and has been teaching in elementary schools in Arequipa since 2014. As our Social Work coordinator, she will be providing the community with the support and tools they need to overcome issues they face in their daily lives.
Andrés has become our youngest Program Coordinator, regulating the logistics of our school including the registration process, medical campaigns and the scholarship program. He has volunteered with NGOs developing projects focused on leadership, teamwork, and emotional intelligence. He also organized the Youth to Business Forum Arequipa and initiated a UN-supported social project in Brazil. Andrés juggles work with HOOP with studying law at Universidad Católica San Pablo.
After graduating from Universidad Católica de Santa Maria, Carla has mainly worked with the mothers of our community counseling as our Resident Psychologist. She comes to us with a lot of great experience, as she has previously worked with children at DEMUNA (Defensoría Municipal del Niño y del Adolescente) and Human Resources Management in Organizational Psychology here in Arequipa.
